How Do I Answer?

Between old journals and binders of poems and devotional poems comes this gleaning:

How Do I Answer?

Bathed in music
an old hymn of invitation
the question comes,
"Do you love Me?"

And Jesus, the Son of god,
gazes into the heart
into depths torn apart
by His simple question.

Do I love Him?
How can I answer---
look into His eyes
touch His hands and sides
And tell Him:
not?
